The Matrix Resurrections Is Headed To Blu-Ray On March 28

January 25, 2022

It’s time to return to The Matrix once again–again–and if you were holding out for a physical edition of The Matrix Resurrections, then you won’t have to wait much longer. Last year’s sequel to the hit sci-fi film series will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on March 8, but if you’re feeling impatient, you can also grab it via premium digital ownership on January 25.

The 4K and Blu-ray release contain the lion’s share of bonus content though, which includes numerous behind-the-scenes featurettes and sharper picture quality.

For those of you who plan to get the regular DVD release, you’ll be able to access the film and a single bonus featurette–Welcome to IØ–on that older format. If you missed the film when it came out last year, then you’ll be pleased to know that it’s a polarizing return to the franchise that’s weird, psychedelic, and still knows kung-fu. Just like all good Matrix films should be.

Here’s the full list of Blu-ray extras:

  • No One Can Be Told What The Matrix Is
  • Resurrecting The Matrix
  • Neo x Trinity: Return to the Matrix
  • Allies + Adversaries: The Matrix Remixed
  • Matrix for Life
  • The Matrix Reactions
  • Echo Opening
  • Deus Ex Machina
  • Welcome to IØ
  • Bullet Time Redux
  • Morpheus vs Neo
  • Exiles Fight
  • Neo vs Smith
  • The San Fran Chase
  • The San Fran Jump

“The Matrix Resurrections will remind you of what you loved about the franchise the first time around… While it may not be nearly as good as the original Matrix, you shouldn’t be surprised to find yourself thinking about it weeks after your first viewing, wondering why it’s sticking with you so much,” Chris Hayner said in his Matrix Resurrections review.

For more on the film, you can also check out how actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II created a new incarnation of Morpheus and how the film’s cast is ready to start working on Matrix 5 if that project ever gets approved. Right now, you can even download a free tech demo for Unreal Engine 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which takes place entirely within a reconstructed and playable version of The Matrix.
