Get a refurbished MacBook Pro for under $500

TL;DR: As of Feb. 15, you can get this refurbished Apple MacBook Pro 13″ for just $449.

The MacBook Pro is one of the only laptops that stands the test of time. Sure, older models don’t have Dark Mode, Touch ID, or Siri, but that doesn’t mean they’re not still powerful computing devices in 2022. Plus, if you opt for a seasoned device instead of a brand-new one, you’ll end up saving hundreds of dollars.

This refurbished MacBook Pro from 2012 still packs some heavy artillery — and it’s on sale for just $449. That’s $850 less than the most affordable 2022 MacBook Pro model, and $100 less than a pair of AirPods Max.

The 2012 model has a plethora of ports, including three USB 3, Thunderbolt, FireWire, SD card, Kensington lock slot, Ethernet, and 8x SuperDrive. Unfortunately, there’s no HDMI port, but there is Bluetooth 4.0. Plus, with three USB ports on board, you could always grab a USB hub for expanding connectivity options.

It may not boast the fastest WiFi speed, but with the integrated 720p HD webcam and AirPort Extreme connectivity, along with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 processor, your loved ones or coworkers shouldn’t have a problem making out your beautiful face on FaceTime calls. There’s also 8GB DDR3 RAM for decent multitasking power, and 120GB SSD storage, which is upgradeable if you need more space.

If you’re looking for a workhorse computer that can keep up with daily tasks, a remote work schedule, and a little streaming to boot, a refurbished MacBook Pro isn’t a bad choice — especially when it’s less than $500.

With a grade “B” rating, this one may have a few light scuffs or scratches on the exterior. But the interior is refurbished to work like new. Plus, you’ll get a black snap-on case to cover up any imperfections anyway.

Prices subject to change.
