How to download and save an Instagram profile picture

Unlike Facebook, where you can enlarge your profile picture and then save it, you can’t save profile pictures from within Instagram. Instead, you must use a third-party service like Instagram Downloads or settle for the lower resolution image that you get when you open an image in a new tab.

This method only works on your own profile picture. If you haven’t added an Instagram story, you can right-click your profile picture on your Instagram profile and then open the image in a new tab. This works on most other Instagram profiles too. However, most people have lots of Instagram stories up at a time and must do it this way.

Go to your Instagram profile and click Edit Profile.

It isn’t possible natively, as Instagram doesn’t allow you to save people’s profile pictures. However, you can use a third-party service like Instagram Downloads to download photos from Instagram profiles.

Can you see Instagram profile pictures full-size?

No, not unless you use a third-party service.
