QUICK ANSWER

Add a workout to your Apple Watch in the Health app on your paired iPhone. You can manually input your workout information, including activity type, distance, start and finish times, and, if known, calories burned.

How to add a workout to your Apple Watch

Adding an unrecorded workout is simple and keeps your data up to date. All you need is the phone paired with your device.

  • Open the Health app on your paired iPhone.
  • Tap the Browse icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Locate and tap Activity, then scroll down to and tap Workouts.
  • Tap Add Data in the top right corner.
  • Manually input your workout by tapping Activity type, Calories, Distance, Starts, and Ends, and entering the relevant information.

Adding a workout to your Apple Watch this way will also retroactively impact your activity rings. No cheating, though!

How to delete a workout

If you need to remove a workout you didn’t mean to record, doing so is easy from your paired phone.

  • Open the Health app on your paired iPhone.
  • Tap the Browse icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Locate and tap Activity, then scroll down to and tap Workouts.
  • Scroll down to the menu title Options and tap Show All Data.
  • Tap Edit in the top right-hand corner, tap the minus sign next to the workout you don’t want saved, and confirm by tapping Delete.
