According to their Global Smartwatch Model Tracker, the smartwatch market has grown by 23% year-over-year between 2020 and 2021, with more than 127 million units shipped and a record-high 40 million shipped in Q4 2021 alone. While there are a few possible reasons for this growth, we want to know why our readers choose to buy smartwatches.
Years ago, smartwatches seemed like a relatively niche category, with devices offering very little in terms of value and giving users little reason to spend money on an extra device when they could achieve the same functions with their smartphone.
