Add a razor-thin refurbished MacBook Air to your work or play setup for cheap

TL;DR: As of June 16, you can grab a refurbished Apple MacBook Air 11.6″ 128GB(opens in a new tab) for $449.99 instead of $999. That’s savings of a whole 54%.

Apple is very good at building hype around their products, causing people to line up for hours (days, even) to attain the latest and greatest devices. But it’s not a sustainable sales model to continuously swap out your new-ish gadgets for even newer ones — especially when there are heaps and heaps of older models just waiting to head to a landfill.

Go a little greener this season and add a refurbished MacBook Air(opens in a new tab) to your arsenal, rather than the latest device to drop. This model from 2014, with an 11.6-inch display, 128GB of storage, and 4GB RAM is on sale for only $449.99. It originally retailed for $999, so you’ll end up saving 54% and cutting your carbon footprint.

The model in question features a 1.4GHz Intel “Core i5” processor, integrated Intel HD Graphics 5000 processor, a 720p FaceTime HD webcam, and an 11.6-inch widescreen TFT LED backlit glossy display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. It also features Bluetooth 4.0, a Thunderbolt port, and two USB 3.0 ports, all packed in a razor thin, 2.3-pound aluminum case. Since it’s refurbished, that case may show some signs of wear and tear, but rest assured the inner parts work just fine. You’ll probably hide any scratches with a cover anyway.

While 2014 seems like ancient times, this laptop is compatible with macOS Big Sur from 2020. Unfortunately, though, it is considered obsolete by Apple — so it’s no longer eligible for hardware repairs and is only eligible for “battery-only repairs in select countries for a limited time.”

Do the environment a solid and add a new-to-you MacBook Air to your Apple arsenal for just $449.99(opens in a new tab). That’s 54% in savings from its original MSRP.

Prices subject to change.
