  • Logitech plans to launch a cloud gaming-based handheld device by the end of 2022.
  • The device will support Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia’s GeForce Now services.
  • It will also use software developed by Tencent Gaming.

Cloud-based gaming for AAA games is slowly becoming more mainstream, and now a major player in game accessories is planning to jump into this business in a big way. Today, the long-running PC and gaming accessory maker Logitech announced plans to launch its own cloud gaming handheld device.

Logitech stated it will partner on the software side with China-based Tencent Games for the new device. It is also working with Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming services so that its device should support hundreds of high-end PC and console games out of the box. It’s possible that other cloud gaming services like Google’s Stadia and Amazon’s Luna could support the device as well,  but no concrete details on that just yet.

Other than that, there isn’t anything else about this future product that Logitech has revealed, including its design, its hardware specs, and especially its price tag. Logitech has set up a web page where you can type in your email to receive further updates. We have seen an upsurge of high-end mobile gaming in the last few years, thanks partly to the popularity of Nintendo’s Switch console, and, more recently, Valve’s Steam Deck. As cloud gaming becomes more mature, we wouldn’t be surprised to see even more competitors attempt to cash in.
