TL;DR

  • Motorola’s Razr 2022 and X30 Pro launch event has been canceled.
  • No specific reason was given for the cancelation, though.

Motorola has been teasing the Razr 2022 foldable and its X30 Pro flagship for a few weeks now, and it was scheduled to hold a launch event for both phones today (August 2) at 7:30 AM ET.

Now, Motorola and Lenovo mobile general manager Chen Jin abruptly announced on Weibo that the launch event has been canceled.

“I’m sorry to inform you that the Moto new product launch scheduled for 7:30 tonight has been canceled for some reason,” read a machine-translated excerpt of Jin’s post.

“We are deeply sorry for this, and thank you for your enthusiastic support for Moto’s new products. For information about new products, you can continue to pay attention to Moto’s official information platform,” added the official Motorola Weibo account in a machine-translated post.

There’s no word on a reason for the cancellation, but the news comes amid rising tensions between China and Taiwan. Tensions increased in the region after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi confirmed plans to visit Taiwan on Tuesday.
