T-Mobile, Apple TV Plus team up for permanent subscriptions

TL;DR

  • T-Mobile will give Apple TV Plus subscriptions to Magenta Max subscribers.
  • This is not a timed promotion: as long as you’re on Magenta Max, you’ll have full Apple TV Plus access.
  • Meanwhile, regular Magenta subscribers can get a free six months of Apple TV Plus.

Years ago, when John Legere was still in charge, T-Mobile rolled out the Netflix On Us program. This unique (at the time) promo gave free Netflix subscriptions to customers on certain plans. This promotion still exists today, allowing millions of T-Mobile subscribers to not need to worry about paying for at least one streaming service.

Today, T-Mobile is announcing a similar program, this time for Apple TV Plus. Although it doesn’t have a catchy name like “Netflix On Us,” it’s essentially the same deal. If you’re a subscriber at a certain level, you get a totally free Apple TV Plus subscription for as long as you stay on your T-Mobile plan.

That certain level is Magenta Max (or Plus if you’ve been there for a while), which is T-Mo’s most expensive plan. For individuals who opt for autopay, Magenta Max will set you back $85 each month. If you pair up with other folks, you can get two lines for $140. And, for a limited time, T-Mobile is throwing in a third line free, so you could also get three lines for $140.

As with Netflix On Us, the T-Mobile Apple TV Plus plan isn’t a timed promotion. As long as your Magenta Max/Plus account is in good standing, you’ll have access to Apple TV Plus.

Regular Magenta customers aren’t entirely left out, though. Those subscribers will get six months of free access to Apple TV Plus. After those six months are up, you’ll be charged the usual $4.99 each month until you cancel.

This rollout begins on August 31, 2022. It applies to new and current subscribers, so if you’re already on Magenta, Magenta Max, or Magenta Plus, be sure to grab your new Apple TV Plus subscription then.
