Oppo launched the Reno 8 series in the likes of India last month, offering slick designs, relatively powerful Dimensity silicon, and fast wired charging. The devices didn’t land in Europe at the time, but Oppo has finally brought the phones to Europe today.
Both phones feature standout designs for mid-range devices, packing flat edges and a thin form factor. In saying so, the Reno 8 Pro has a glass back while the standard device has a plastic rear cover.
Reno 8 series specs and features
The Reno 8 Pro is the more capable device of the two, featuring a powerful upper mid-range Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset, and an FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen. The Reno 8, on the other hand, brings a mid-range Dimensity 1300 chipset and a 6.43-inch 90Hz OLED screen (FHD+).
Otherwise, both phones are equipped with a 4,500mAh battery and 80W wired charging. The two phones also share a similar triple rear camera system (50MP IMX766 main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro sensor) and a 32MP IMX709 selfie shooter. In saying so, the Pro variant also offers 4K HDR video and 4K night video functionality.
Other shared features include Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, an in-display fingerprint sensor, IP54 rating, and Color OS 12.1 atop Android 12.
This isn’t the only Reno 8 series device coming to Europe, as Oppo also brought the Reno 8 Lite to the region. This device ditches Mediatek SoCs in favor of a budget-tier Snapdragon 695 chipset, for one. It also brings a 6.43-inch FHD+ 60Hz OLED screen, a 64MP+8MP+2MP triple rear camera system, 16MP selfie camera, and a 4,500mAh battery with 33W wired charging.
Bizarrely, the Reno 8 Lite also ships with Color OS 12 atop Android 11 rather than Android 12. That’s a real shame when Android 13 is already here.

The Reno 8 series will be available in Europe from September 1, but what’s the damage, then? Expect to pay £599 (~$697) for the Reno 8 Pro in UK and €799.90 (~$801) in Europe. Meanwhile, the standard Reno 8 will set you back £419 (~$487) in the UK and €599.90 (~$601) in Europe. Otherwise, the Oppo Reno 8 Lite will set you back £319 (~$371).
For what it’s worth, we thought the Pro model was powerful and good-looking in our Reno 8 Pro review. However, we were disappointed with the phone’s high price tag in India as well as the budget-tier secondary rear cameras. We also thought the update pledge was middling and that full-fledged water resistance should be on offer for the price.
Needless to say, the European and UK pricing is steep as well compared to rival devices. So European and UK consumers might want to consider devices like the Pixel 6, Samsung Galaxy A53, or the Poco F4.
