TL;DR

  • Google has released a few new features for its Chrome browser.
  • The latest version of Chrome puts your search results in a convenient side panel.
  • Google also announced a price tracking feature for its desktop browser.

Tired of going back and forth between websites and your Google search results? Well, Google just added a new feature to its Chrome browser that’s perfect for heavy searches. It also added a price tracking feature for its desktop browser.

In a blog post, Google announced that it has introduced some new features to the Chrome browser. One of the features is a productivity enhancer that opens up a sidebar containing your search results. This would make it faster and easier to go from one result to the next.

As the company explains, to open up the side panel, you first need to enter something in the search bar, hit enter, and then click on one of the results. From there, you’ll see a “G” logo in the address bar. When you click on the G, the sidebar will open and show your search results.

search side panel

Not too long ago, Google introduced a Reading list and Bookmark side panel to its browser. The new search results panel works similarly to that. This feature will come in handy for people wanting to quickly compare prices, students doing research for homework, and so on.

In addition to the search results side panel, there is also a new built-in price tracking feature. The feature first appeared on the mobile version of Chrome, but is now officially coming to the desktop version. Google says that the feature will “Track the price of a product across several online stores at once. You’ll get an email if the price drops on any site so you can buy when the price is right for you.”

Like the search result sidebar, the price tracking feature should show an icon in the address bar, but this icon would be a bell. However, we weren’t able to activate it ourselves in the current version of Chrome.
