Audio messages are helpful, but they can get very annoying at times. You can’t listen to them in an office full of coworkers, for example, or in a classroom. Regardless of your reasons, Google has introduced a feature that transcribes voice messages. Let’s show you how to use Audio Message Transcription on Google Pixel phones.

QUICK ANSWER

Audio Message Transcription is enabled by default on supported devices. If it’s not, turn it on by opening the Messages app, tapping on your avatar icon, and going to Message settings > Voice message transcription. Toggle Show transcription of voice messages on. Next time you get a voice message through the Google Messages app, an expandable section will appear right above the voice memo. Go ahead and expand it, and you should see the transcription.
