This trailer for Pixar’s upcoming film ‘Elemental’ has us all a-swoon

Who doesn’t love a meet-cute? Disney and Pixar have released a trailer for its upcoming animated feature Elemental, and it looks gorgeously swoon-worthy, with groovy music and vibes to match.

Directed by Pixar’s Peter Sohn, Elemental is set in Element City, a magical metropolis where each denizen is comprised of water, air, land, or fire in cool and unusual ways. This trailer gives us a taste of Elemental‘s high-tech but welcoming world. It also introduces Ember Lumen (Leah Lewis, The Half of It) and Wade Ripple (Mamoudou Athie, Archive 81, Black Box), two very different souls in Element City who seem to have nothing in common. When Ember and Lumen’s hands touch, things get steamy — literally, since Wade is a water element and Ember is all fire underneath her cool, shimmering purple hoodie. But fireworks erupt regardless.

What does the future hold for — we’re calling it now — Wember? We’ll have to wait until 2023 to find out, but in the meantime, take a quick trip to Element City with this trailer.

Elemental premieres in theaters June 16, 2023.
