New leak gives us our first glimpse at the Pixel 7a

TL;DR

  • Newly leaked renders have given us our first look at the Pixel 7a.
  • The images reveal a device that’s not too far off from the Pixel 6a’s design.
  • The dimensions are said to be 152.4 x 72.9 x 9.0mm.

Now that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have been out for a while, the next phone we’ve been expecting to see from Google is the next iteration of its midrange A-series. Although there’s not a lot of information to go on yet, some newly leaked rendors show us what the device could look like.

In collaboration with prolific leaker, OnLeaks, the folks over at Smartprix have obtained leaked renders that give us our potential first look at the Pixel 7a. Based on the images and the 3D video, the handset is reminiscent of the Pixel 6a, like how the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are similar to their predecessors.

According to the website, the phone supposedly measures in at 152.4 x 72.9 x 9.0mm with a 10.1mm camera bump. If true, this would make the Pixel 7a slightly larger than the Pixel 6a’s 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.9mm body by the slimmest of margins.

The renders also reveal that the camera bar will likely adopt a metal finish like the rest of the Pixel 7 series. And it seems the 7a’s camera bar may end up using a matte aluminum finish as seen in the Pixel 7 instead of the Pixel 7 Pro’s polished aluminum.

As for the front of the device, it appears that the screen will have mostly thin bezels except for on the bottom where the bezel gets slightly thicker.

Also similar to the other models in the Pixel 7 lineup, the Pixel 7a’s power button and volume rocker are on the right side of the device and the SIM tray can be found on the left side.

Only a couple of weeks ago, a leak revealed that the Pixel 7a could have a 90Hz 1080p display. This would give it the highest refresh rate seen on any previous A-series phone.
