TL;DR

  • Google has revealed its picks for the best Chrome extensions of the year.
  • The winners were picked from four categories including productivity, focus, gaming and viewing, and learning.

Google allows users to customize their Chrome browser in a variety of ways. One such way is through installing extensions that make Chrome work best for you. As the year comes to a close, Google has revealed which extensions it believes were the best of year.

Today, on the company’s blog, Google announced its picks for the best Chrome extensions of 2022. It appears that the tech giant choose the winners based on four categories including productivity, focus, gaming and viewing, and learning.

For the category of productivity, Google picked:

  • Tango: An app that automatically generates a how-to guide when you record yourself walking through a process.
  • SwiftRead: A speed reading app that claims to help users read two to three times faster.
  • Liner: A research tool that lets you highlight, save, organize, and get reading recommendations.
  • Compose AI: An AI writing tool.
  • Visbug: A tool that allows designers to make alterations to text and images on websites.
  • Check US Visa Slots: Allows you to check for US visa openings.

The next category was for focus and included two picks: Workona Tab Manager and CrXMouse Chrome Gestures. The former extension helps with managing your countless tabs, while the latter creates custom mouse navigation shortcuts.

For gaming and viewing, Google also only picked two extensions. The first pick in this category, RoPro, was aimed at Roblox players. This extension adds unique features to the game. The second pick was eJoy, which allows users to watch movies and videos with two subtitles in different languages for language learning.

The final category, learning, was aimed at students and also only had two picks. Equatio, a digital math aide, was the first choice, followed by MyBib: Free Citation Generator.

Right before the beginning of December, Google also revealed its picks for the best apps in the Google Play Store. For that list, Google picked Dream by Womb as the best overall app.
