Movano’s Evie ring wants to tell women the why behind what they’re feeling

TL;DR

  • The Movano Evie is a smart ring targeted at female users.
  • It can track skin temperature variability, periods and ovulation, and menstrual symptoms, amongst other metrics like heart rate and blood oxygen.
  • It’ll hit the market in 2023 with a price tag under $300.

Healthcare company Movano has launched Evie, a smart ring specially designed for women. The futuristic-looking ring promises to be an FDA-approved wearable, although it’s yet to gain official regulatory approvals. When and if it does, Evie would be a medical-grade device for pulse oximetry metrics and heart rate measurement.

Movano claims the ring successfully completed a hypoxia trial in October 2022, where accuracy for clinical SpO2 and heart rate commensurate with FDA’s standards. But Evie goes beyond features that can also be found in multiple other wearables.

The ring can help women track skin temperature variability, periods and ovulation, and menstrual symptoms. Movano says it aims to help women “better understand the why behind what they are feeling.”

Meanwhile, general activity tracking features include measurements for steps, active minutes, calories burned, sleep stages and duration, and moods.

The Evie ring will appear at the CES 2023 show floor in early January for a second time around. It was first introduced at CES 2022 but didn’t have a final name or price back then. After missing its promised 2022 launch, Evie is now set to go on sale sometime in 2023. The company says it should cost under $300 with no added monthly subscription fee.
