Chat with your Discord friends from your Xbox console
Your Xbox console contains built-in tools for voice chat, but if you don’t enjoy them, Discord is an excellent alternative. Once you’ve joined or set up a Discord server, you can connect to it through your Xbox. While you’ll still need the mobile Discord app to connect, it’s a quick and easy process. Linking your accounts will also display the Xbox games you’re currently playing on Discord.
This guide will show you how to connect your Discord and Xbox accounts and join a Discord call on your Xbox. But remember that you don’t need to use your console to play Xbox games. How to link your Discord and Xbox accounts
While you can connect your accounts via desktop, we recommend doing it on mobile, as you’ll need the Discord app later. You’ll need to download the Discord and Xbox apps from the Play Store first.
Sign in to both apps before you start the process. While you technically only need to use one app to connect your accounts, you’ll need to be signed into both to use Discord on Xbox later. While both methods have the same result, linking your accounts via the Xbox app is slightly faster.
You’ll need to be signed in to your Xbox and Discord apps whenever you use Discord voice chat on Xbox, so don’t uninstall either app once you’ve completed the s.etup
Method 1: How to connect to your Xbox account from the Discord app
- Open the Discord app.
- Tap your Profile icon in the bottom right of your screen.
- Tap the Connections button to see your linked accounts.
- Tap the Add button in the top right of your screen to link your Xbox account.
- Scroll down and tap the Xbox button.
- Tap Get Started.
- Tap Continue to sign in to your Xbox account.
- You’ll be prompted to enter your Microsoft username and password if you haven’t signed in to the Xbox app. Once you’re signed in, you’ll be sent to the next step.
- Tap Authorize and Continue to complete the setup.
Method 2: How to connect to your Discord account from the Xbox app
- Open the Xbox app.
- Tap your Profile icon in the bottom right of your screen.
- Tap Continue at the bottom of your screen; this will send you to the Discord app.
- You’ll be prompted to enter your Microsoft username and password if you haven’t signed in to the Discord app.
- Tap Authorize to continue.
How to use Discord voice chat on Xbox
Once you’ve connected your accounts, you can use Discord voice chat on Xbox. Remember that you won’t be able to use Discord on Xbox if you are not signed in to the Xbox app.
- Open the Discord app.
- Tap the voice chat channel you wish to connect to.
- Tap Try voice chat on console! at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap Join on Xbox.
- Do not tap Join Voice; this will connect to the call via your phone.
- Your Xbox app will now open; tap Transfer Voice to complete the process.
