Save up to $200: As of Jan. 20, the two recently-announced 2023 MacBook Pros are seeing $50 discounts days before their official release. Pre-order the 14.2-inch 512GB model for $1,949.99(Opens in a new window)(opens in a new tab) (MSRP $1,999.99) or the 16.2-inch 512GB model for $2,449.99(Opens in a new window)(opens in a new tab) (MSRP $2,499.99).

The 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch 2023 MacBook Pros are quietly seeing $50 discounts *checks notes* three days after being announced. The discounts come so soon after launch that the new Pros are still in preorder mode, and will officially begin shipping on Jan. 24.

As of Jan. 20, only the base configuration, Space Gray version of each are on sale, but don’t let the lack of red text and a strikeout fool you — Amazon has altered the “retail” price rather than making the discount obvious, which is a silent tactic we’ve seen before with ridiculously early Apple discounts.

Looking to spend less than $1,000 on your MacBook upgrade? Another of our favorite laptop deals this week is on the 2020 MacBook Air(Opens in a new window)(opens in a new tab), which is less than a dollar away from its lowest price ever.

2023 MacBook Pro

Not every new Apple launch is particularly exciting. It happens more often than you’d think that the successor’s differences over its predecessor are negligible enough to not be worth the extra cash. But the new Pro kind of leaves the old Pro in the dust.

Leading that charge is an M2 Pro chip that is said to compile code 25 percent faster and process images 40 percent faster than the M1 Pro chip from 2021. Other changes include WiFi 6E support and advanced HDMI that works with 8K displays.

  • 2023 16.2-inch MacBook Pro (M2 chip, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Space Gray)(Opens in a new window)(opens in a new tab) — $2,449.99 $2,499.99 (save $50)

If you think you’d be perfectly fine with the M1 chip, though — which is still undoubtedly a beast compared to much of the competition — you can score the 2020 MacBook Air on sale for $799.99 at Best Buy(Opens in a new window)(opens in a new tab). That’s $200 off its MSRP of $999.99 and just .99 cents away from the lowest price it has ever seen.

The 2020 Air also saw appreciated upgrades like an actually-comfortable keyboard and touch ID.
