Avatar: The Way of Water continues to make a splash at the box office. The sequel to the highest-grossing movie of all time has now passed $600 million at the domestic office and is on pace to surpass Avengers: Infinity War today, January 25, to become the No. 5 highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide.

The Way of Water has now reached $602 million in the US and $1.444 billion from international markets for a total of $2.046 billion globally.

Breaking it down by region, The Way of Water is now the 13th highest-grossing movie of all time in the United States and could pass The Incredibles 2 ($608.6 million) to reach No. 12. Worldwide, The Way of Water ranks fifth, as mentioned, and has a chance of climbing higher to pass Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion) to reach No. 4 in the time ahead.

If that happens, then writer-director James Cameron will have three of the top four highest-grossing movies of all time. 2009’s Avatar ($2.92 billion) ranks No. 1 all time, with 1997’s Titanic ($2.194 billion) ranking third. Avengers: Endgame ($2.8 billion) is currently the No. 2 movie all time.

Thanks to The Way of Water’s huge success at the box office, Cameron is moving ahead with his planned sequels, beginning with Avatar 3 in 2024. That movie was already filmed, and some parts of Avatar 4 have been shot, too.

In other news, Ubisoft’s Avatar game, Frontiers of Pandora, is on the way this year.
