TL;DR

  • Vivo has announced a global launch date for the X90 series of phones.
  • The new flagship handsets will launch on February 3.

Vivo launched the X90 series of flagship phones in China in late November 2022, offering plenty of horsepower and versatile, Zeiss-branded camera systems. We’ve had to wait a while for a global release though, but the company has finally confirmed a launch date.

The Chinese brand announced a February 3, 2023 global launch (10PM GMT on February 2, 6AM GMT+8 on February 3) on its global website, although it didn’t reveal specific markets just yet. Nevertheless, we’re guessing the phones will be available in Europe, India, and the Middle East.

It’s unclear whether all phones will be coming to the market, but the camera-related text on the back of the phone above suggests we’re looking at the Vivo X90 Pro at the very least (topping out at a 50mm focal length).

The Vivo X90 Pro brings a Mediatek Dimensity 9200 SoC, 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED screen (2,800 x 1,260), a 4,870mAh battery, 120W wired charging, 50W wireless speeds, and an IP68 rating. This device also brings a 50MP one-inch IMX989 main camera, 50MP 2x telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide shooter.

In saying so, we hope to see the top-end Vivo X90 Pro Plus as well. It offers a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 6.78-inch QHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, a 4,700mAh battery with 80W wired charging, 50W wireless top-ups, and an IP68 rating. The Pro Plus is also king of the hill as far as photography is concerned, serving up a 50MP one-inch main camera, 50MP 2x telephoto camera, 64MP 3.5x periscope camera, and 48MP ultrawide lens.

Either way, we thought last year’s Vivo X80 Pro was a great camera-focused flagship phone that was a little too expensive in markets like Europe. So we hope to see more competitive pricing from these new handsets.
