Our 2021 MacBook Pro pick is back to its record low price

Save $400: The 14-inch 2021 MacBook Pro (M1 Pro, 512GB SSD)(Opens in a new tab) is finally back down to its record-low price of $1,599 at Best Buy as of March 6, netting you 20% off its usual $1,999. You’ll also find every other configuration of the M1 Pro MacBook(Opens in a new tab), including the 16-inch models, on sale for $400 off or more.

There’s nothing like a great MacBook deal to start off your week.

As of March 6, Best Buy has the supercharged line of M1 Pro MacBooks on sale for at least $400 off and up to $600 off, depending on the screen and built-in storage size you’re going for. This is an especially good deal for the 14-inch MacBook Pro with 512GB of built-in storage(Opens in a new tab), as the $400 markdown brings it back down to its lowest price of $1,599. This comes after months of the laptop sitting only about $100 off its $1,999 MSRP, which is where Amazon(Opens in a new tab) has it on sale, at the time of writing.

Even on sale, this laptop’s price is a bit hefty, but that’s because it was not built for casual use. The M1 Pro chip is designed to power heavy tasks without lag, like photo and video editing — and it does so with all-day battery life. (I’ve used my work-issued M1 Pro off its charger for entire work days without a hitch, and Mashable video editor Alex Humphreys reported similar results when testing the laptop). The speakers far surpass any previous generation of MacBook, and it ditches some of the more annoying features like the Touch Bar and butterfly keyboard.

Ultimately, it’s not the MacBook for light usage — and that’s in the literal sense, too, as its additional pound does add a noticeable bit of heft. But for anyone who needs more power and doesn’t want to hear their MacBook’s fan start working so hard that the laptop sounds like it’s about to blast off, the 512GB M1 Pro MacBook Pro is a solid choice. And don’t forget to check out the rest of the line on sale(Opens in a new tab) at Best Buy.
