FTC Files Complaint Against Microsoft For Refusing To Provide Documents, After 24 Requests To Do So

“Purely opinion there. I recognize it but disagree with it. I think purchases like this should reveal everything about them. On both sides and equally.”
FTC is playing games. but CMA beat them to the punch, they know very well that this deal is valuable to MS so they want to make MS bend the knee as much as possible….just to show that they made big tech answer their demands. I do not think that anything should be shown from either side.

“It includes current signed deals, not just past deals.”
Signed deals that we know about already but deal that have still to be announced is far too much details. We are taking about deals that spans years. Everything from both sides will be out on the table and there will be nothing for gamers to be excited about whether it’s the state of play or Xbox Direct.
But the point of requesting the documents is not to actually hand them over but it’s to dissuade each other. This whole thing is just a bit of drama.

“I mean, sure, $70b purchase of some of the most valuable IPs in gaming, let alone the most valuable third-party game that continues to break its own records year to year compared to a few million$ deals. What a great comparison.”
It is a great comparison. Because Sony has denied Millions of gamers from entering the Xbox Echo system. Take street Fighter 5, a perfect example of a game that was popular on Xbox and the fighting community. Sony made that exclusive, making them jump ship to Sony and now they have exclusivity deals with the next street fighter game. Final Fantasy, Persona, Ni No Kuni and many more Japanese games were denied an Xbox release for years which meant that they could not foster a JRPG fanbase.
Showing those documents would show how Sony deals with segmenting the fanbase towards their side by denying keep releases from Xbox. These are examples of anti-competition.

Everything you said would have made sense if COD was exclusive to Xbox but it is not. You also might be thinking that they will make it exclusive after 10 years, no they won’t. The reason why they gave a 10-year deal rather than a deal forever is that we don’t know what the next PlayStation console is. You can’t make a deal for a console that doesn’t exist. Once the announcement of the PS6, and Switch 2 then the deal can be renewed for those consoles.
Since Cod, is not exclusive there is no Anti Competition.

“I mean, that’s already built into annual bonuses and the like. And, sure, show that info is Microsoft shows the exact same on their end.”

MS knows something that shows more individual stakes for certain people. As I said the denial of the acquisition is more individual-driven than the Company driven.
