Ridiculous waste of an article. I think Sony knows about controllers, tests them and decides if it’s a great idea to put them on the market. Some never make it market. But they have plenty of patents just in case.
*Revolutionize gaming or ruin it…*
Complete nonsense. Try not to over exaggerate for a click.
*If games become too immersive, then it could negatively impact the enjoyment for a lot of players as not every gamer wants to be engulfed by hyperrealism…*
It’s a controller. You don’t wear it. It’s not VR. Sure. Not everyone uses every feature like rumble. But it’s there for other gamers to enjoy without affecting controller design. Not every developer uses every feature. But other developers do come up with innovative and interesting ways to make games even more fun when something is built in.
Extra analog, more buttons, rumble or improved haptics, motion tracking, triggers, share button, touch pad, etc. Sony is well versed in design. Although it would be interesting for a controller to increase or decrease temperature, it’s unlikely it would ever release. And twisting has been done before in a Namco controller. Question is if changing shape or twisting adds increased enjoyment as a built in feature.
Lastly, it isn’t that most prefer a controller over VR. Many still haven’t tried it or a game they would prefer to know if they’d like it. VR headsets are expensive to some. Don’t know how when gamers spend plenty of money on season passes, dlc and micro transactions but hey. But we see many that say, “If Silent Hill or Halo or The Last of Us, or Battlefield or their favorite RPG, etc was in VR, they’d pull the trigger. It isn’t because they don’t want VR. They want a reason for themselves to get it by having that favorite game they like in VR. Just like GT7 and RE8 made new believers in the platform.
