What a load of rubbish!
The games that people who skip because its too expensive or review that was contentious would not be purchase. With subscription services, people get to play those games that they normally would not even think of purchasing. The end result is more people playing games and more developers being discovered such as the developers of Tunic, Signalis, and more aa games asobo studios and mudfish
Games that would usually sell for a couple of 100k would now be in the hands of Millions.
So your point about it not benefiting gamers has no ground.
The prices of games have mounted to a point where people are not buying games as much….this whole situation is by design to push towards a path of subscription.
If noise needed to be made it should have been so when Sony raised the prices of their games to $70….I did not see an outcry for that. So for those titles, the barrier to entry is okay to be raised but for an affordable subscription, it is not good.
