Each year, dozens and dozens of shows get canceled by TV networks, and that’s before you count those that come to a natural conclusion after a final season. Some are beloved shows, others just couldn’t seem to find the audience they were looking for. Among those that tend to cut a large batch of shows every year is Netflix. Once upon a time, the streaming service took pride in letting shows take the time to find their footing, sometimes over multiple seasons. Those days are in the past, though.
Each year, a decent portion of the canceled and ending shows comes from Netflix, including some truly surprising entries. Remember the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop or even the botched attempt to bring Resident Evil to life on the streaming giant? Still, while many shows never get past a first season on Netflix, some go on to become massive hits that get to live out their life cycles, like Stranger Things.
This year, Netflix has already said goodbye to several major titles, including the Karate Kid follow-up series Cobra Kai, which it rescued from YouTube Premium–as well as a number of adult animated series, including the popular Big Mouth.
