PlayStation-backed Deviation Games hit with layoffs

When you sign on a big publisher you work for them now. The publisher provides resources, ppl the tech etc. Most importantly, you also own the IP they’re making so you can cut a project right underneath the team. So they work as if they’re first party. Think of MS and Scalebound situation.

With that said I’m not saying it’s all Sony’s fault. The team getting hit with lay offs (maybe ran out of money) you would think Sony would step in and fund for retention and continue the project. I guess Sony didn’t see much in their game to see the project all the way through? Not sure.

All I know is if Sony says they want to make different types of games like Gaas or whatever they need to commit to it. Maybe Sony doesn’t know what a good gaas game looks like? But then again Sony’s track record is mainly single player AAA games so they wouldn’t exactly be experts in managing or making gaas titles.
