Dwayne Johnson Is Returning For A New Fast & Furious Movie

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to reprise his role as Hobbs for a new Fast & Furious movie. The last time Johnson appeared in a Fast & Furious film was in 2019 for Hobbs and Shaw.

Many fans wondered if he’d return to the franchise because of his cameo at the end of Fast X. Earlier today on his Twitter account, Johnson posted a video with the caption explaining how “Hobbs is back” and he’ll be a part of a “fresh, new chapter & setup for Fast X: Part II.”

Hope you’ve got your funderwear on…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson will produce the unnamed Fast project alongside Vin Diesel and others. In addition, Chris Morgan will be in charge of the script and will also be producing. Morgan has worked on most Fast films except for Fast & Furious 9 and Fast X.

The upcoming movie will not be a sequel to Hobbs and Shaw or Fast X. Instead, it’s meant to bridge the gap between X and 11. Even though Johnson is set to return to the series, Vin Diesel is expected to not star in the film. Johnson and Diesel have butted heads over the years, casting doubt on Johnson’s continued involvement in at least the main Fast and Furious series.

In our Fast X review, we gave it a 4/10, and Phil Owen wrote, “Fast X is an exhausting experience. Like Fate and F9, it’s overstuffed and is more concerned with fan service and growing the family than with telling a decent story.”
