Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion Discounted To Its Best Price Yet For Prime Day

It’s a good time to be a Final Fantasy fan, as between spin-offs, new entries in the series, and exciting sequels on the horizon, the franchise has a lot to offer. For Final Fantasy VII fans, the game’s excellent prequel Crisis Core just got a discount for Prime Day 2023, and is available for $35 on Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is both a remake and a remaster of the classic PlayStation Portable game, as it updates the graphics of that game massively, overhauls its combat system, and throws in a few new ideas into the mix as well. It’s a more digestible Final Fantasy game owing to its existence as a PSP original, but it’s an essential chapter in the tale of Cloud Strife as it shines a light on his mentor Zack Fair and his nemesis Sephiroth.

“Much like protagonist Zack Fair himself, the story of the self-proclaimed country-boy-turned-SOLDIER-First-Class is not one shrouded in mystery,” Jess Howard wrote in GameSpot’s Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion review. “If you’ve engaged with Final Fantasy VII or any of its various spin-offs, prequels, remakes, or animated movies, chances are you understand the weight of his legacy–which is, coincidentally, only rivaled by the weight of his sword. However, if you’re looking for the definitive way to experience it, look no further than Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.”

Naturally, the game looks best on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as it runs at 4K 60fps. On Xbox Series S, you can get 1080p 60fps and the Switch version is a 720p 30fps experience when running in either TV or handheld mode. For another great Final Fantasy deal, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is available for just $35 this week.
