Steam Deck sale: Save over $100 on a certified refurbished model

SAVE UP TO $130: As of Aug. 11, Valve is selling certified refurbished Steam Decks at a discounted price. Depending on which storage option you get, you could save up to $130 on the popular gaming handheld.

It’s no secret that the Steam Deck is one of our favorite handheld gaming consoles on the market right now. How couldn’t it be? It’s basically a gaming PC that you can take with you anywhere, and a pretty powerful one at that.

Turns out, it’s actually a great time to snag one for yourself. No, it’s not just because Baldur’s Gate 3 just got released (although that’s not a bad reason at all). It’s actually because Valve has now started selling certified refurbished Steam Decks at a discounted price directly from their online storefront. Depending on which storage model you choose, you could potentially save up to $130.

Look, we know that people usually tend to raise an eyebrow when they see the word “refurbished.” But, just because something is a refurb doesn’t mean that it’s somehow “lesser” than a new model, especially when it’s put through the rigorous testing that Valve is priding itself on here. According to Valve, each refurbished Steam Deck gets a total overhaul, including a factory reset, software update, and tests for controller inputs, audio and video quality, and battery health. “All refurbished units meet or even exceed the performance standards of new retail units,” says Valve on their website. “Although they may have minor cosmetic blemishes, they provide a reliable, high-quality gaming experience at a lower cost.” You’ll even get the same one-year warranty that you’d get with a brand-new Deck, as well as a protective carrying case. If you ask us, that’s a pretty sweet deal.
