Fortnite Is Getting A Lego Game, An Arcade Racer, And A Rock Band Successor All This Week

December 2, 2023

With Chapter 5 of Fortnite expected to begin this weekend, Epic is revealing big plans for the future. Lego Fortnite, as the simple name suggests, is a huge collaboration years in the making. It’s a new free game that will live inside Fortnite starting on December 7, and is playable solo or in multiplayer with others.

Though we’ve yet to see much of the survival-crafting game, it’s presumed that it will play something like Minecraft or Lego Worlds, the Lego Group’s previous step into the genre. With Lego Fortnite, Epic and the Lego Group are kicking off a years-long collaboration that was previously announced but yet to bear fruit.

Lego says the partnership with Epic is designed to create fun and safe digital spaces for children and families. It has long been understood that the Lego-Epic collaboration is seen as a step into the metaverse of which Epic CEO Tim Sweeney often speaks.

“Within Lego Fortnite, players can explore vast, open worlds where the magic of Lego building and Fortnite collide,” a Lego press release stated. “Designed for people of all ages to enjoy together, the game will encourage creativity, experimentation and collaboration through play.”

Unlike past Lego games, Lego Fortnite will exist for free as a new game within Fortnite.

Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival

But that’s not the only new game that will live inside Fortnite this week. As teased in the Big Bang finale event, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival are on the way on December 8 and 9, respectively. Rocket Racing is an arcade racing game that incorporates elements of both Fortnite and Rocket League. Fortnite Festival, meanwhile, is essentially the rebirth of Rock Band, developed by Harmonix and available exclusively within Fortnite. Licensed tracks and classic music gameplay are back.

Stay tuned for a lot more on Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival as we near the launch of the game in a few days.
