Prime Video’s Mr. And Mrs. Smith Trailer Showcases New Twist And Stellar Cast

Mr. and Mrs. Smith will switch things up for the upcoming TV series on Amazon Prime Video. The debut trailer for the show–based off the 2005 movie–highlights how Donald Glover and Maya Erskine’s titular characters meet and then come together to work as spies. That’s quite the departure from the film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, where the couple is unaware of each other’s undercover life.

That’s not the only twist, either. This time, Mr. and Mrs. Smith are thrown into an arranged marriage and given their new names as John and Jane. The trailer teases this new take on the franchise early on, with Jane asking John if he’s “ever killed anyone?” during what looks like a first date.

For those unfamiliar, the 2005 Hollywood action movie saw the couple find out about their undercover lives when their respective agencies direct them to kill each other. That won’t be the case here, as Prime Video’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s synopsis notes they’ll “navigate a high-risk mission every week.”

In addition, the series boasts an incredible cast, with Paul Dano (The Batman, The Fabelmans) even popping up in the trailer. Other big-names who will make an appearance include Sarah Paulson, John Turturro, Parker Posey, Ron Perlman, and Alexander Skarsgard.

Originally, when the show was announced back in 2021, Phoebe Waller-Bridge was revealed to be a part of the TV reboot with Glover. But the Fleabag star left Mr. and Mrs. Smith later that year because of “creative differences.”

Mr. and Mrs. Smith will premiere February 2 on Prime Video.
