What do “Padam Padam,” Heartstopper, and “These gays, they’re trying to murder me” have in common?

They’re all major moments in 2023’s Grindr Unwrapped.

Move over, Spotify Wrapped. It’s Grindr’s time to unwrap. Literally.

The app app for gay, bi, trans, and queer people surveyed more than 10,000 users on their favourite pop culture moments of 2023, and analysed anonymous activity data from its 13 million monthly users worldwide.

The Gay Gasp of the Year was voted Troye Sivan’s drag in the “One of Your Girls” video.

Users voted “Padam Padam” by Kylie Minogue as Song of the Year, and her album Tension was also voted Album of the Year. Heartstopper was named Show of the Year, while Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was voted Movie of the Year.

Biggest IJBOL (I just burst out laughing) of the Year? Jennifer Coolidge as pleading for her life with “These gays, they’re trying to murder me” in the White Lotus. Special mention to “Gimme One Margarita, I’ma Open My Legs,” which came in at number two, Timothée Chalamet as Wonka at number three, “Angela Bassett did the thing” at number four, and the M3GAN dance at number five.

Mashable After Dark

The Biggest Babygirl of the year? Why, Harry Styles of course! Followed in close second by Pedro Pascal, and 3rd by Jacob Elordi. That’s so babygirl of them.

Beyoncé was voted Mother of the Year. Mother was most certainly Mothering.

Henry Cavill was deemed Hottest Man of the Year, while Kim Petras winning a Grammy was named as the biggest LGBTQ win of the year.

Grindr Unwrapped also revealed some juicy insights about its users. Sunday at 6 p.m. was found to be the most active day and time on the app. And London was Grindr’s most explored city.

👀 was the most popular emoji.
