Lightning77,
My comment was actually towards -Foxtrot.
And it’s not really about Rare doing it. I mean even with the other studios they have. There is a precedent here with another Rare game: Perfect Dark, which is being developed by The Initiative. I’m saying that even if you hand it off to another Microsoft studio, I have no faith in the outcome.
I wouldn’t think Nintendo would want to do it either. They don’t really make those kinds of games anymore and they have a certain western appeal that Nintendo hasn’t really dabbled with since Starfox Adventures.
Most notably, Nintendo has leaned in hard to the family friendliness. They might support development on a more mature game, but I don’t see them developing it. The closest you’ll get these days is Metroid or Bayonetta. Even Banjo-Tooie is much darker than the original game and even that tone feels incompatible with modern Nintendo. Both are Rare games and I think, more than anything, it showed what the people at the studio wanted to do more than what Nintendo was trying to do.
All of this to say, I don’t think either Nintendo or Microsoft have it in them to do these games well. Banjo is the easier of the two to pull off, I should add. You’re probably going to need some writers from Rockstar to make a new Conker live up to what the fans want, but that’s just me.
