One game (suicide squad) was built to fit the GAAS style after the studio gave players three stellar Batman offline games. It locked players completely out of the single-player for over 8 hours.
Helldivers is a series previously built as an online focus (though this one requires it now), with 2 having launch issues, but it wasn’t completely broken for everyone, as you claim. Many were able to play fine with friends or in solo private lobbies. it was matchmaking that was pretty broken, but the game was still playable for most
One game got more hate than the other because of what it did to the studio and franchise.
