Persona Meets Sonic The Hedgehog With Aerial Knight’s We Never Yield

A sequel to Aerial Knight’s Never Yield has been announced during IGN Live, appropriately titled We Never Yield. We Never Yield builds upon and continues the story of the game’s previous entry alongside adding new features that were not present in the game’s previous entry such as voice-acting and local multiplayer.

We Never Yield continues the story of Wally and Lone, twin brothers who were destined to receive their family treasure. This time around, Wally and Lone will be attempting to work together to resolve their issues from the previous entry. “You do not see a lot of Black characters resolving trauma with each other,” developer Neil Jones said. With dual protagonists, players can still play solo, but the game becomes easier by playing with another person, where players can use two separate controllers or have half of a portion of the controller or buttons assigned to that individual.

Even though We Never Yield is a sequel, players do not need to play the previous entry to catch up on the story, since the initial 10 minutes will cover the plot of Never Yield alongside that game’s ending. One of the most game-changing features this time around is the addition of The Power of Kings, which is a meter built up after bypassing a few obstacles that can be used to create a dash, but by waiting until the meter is completely filled–invulnerability is gained (with the summoning of a crown) to smash obstacles in your way for more challenging sections in the game.

Hub areas allow the twin brothers to take a breath, speak with one another, change outfits, and lore tablets allow deeper knowledge into the game’s kingdom of its founding, creation, and worldbuilding.

We Never Yield releases on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this July.
