XDefiant Will Add Team Deathmatch Soon, With Search-And-Destroy Mode Coming Later

June 10, 2024

One of XDefiant’s odd omissions–a Team Deathmatch mode–will be coming soon to the free-to-play shooter, and by “soon,” it sounds like it could arrive by the end of June.

XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin stated that TDM will be added to the FPS “in a couple of weeks” on X (formerly known as Twitter). He said this info was divulged during an IGN Live interview and that his team has been listening to community feedback about including the mode in the arena shooter.

In case you missed the IGN Live interview, I wanted to say that we have been listening to the amount of people asking for TDM and we will be adding it in a couple of weeks.

Additionally, Rubin added in a follow-up reply on X that a Search-and-Destroy mode is on the way, too, but that it’s “more complicated.” So expect that after TDM’s inclusion in XDefiant.

Later today, XDefiant will get the spotlight at Ubisoft Forward, along with Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and other surprises. Last week, XDefiant received a patch that stopped PS5 players from going into areas they shouldn’t have on maps in the game.

XDefiant reportedly saw a stellar launch in May, with 1 million players supposedly checking out the game in the first three hours of availability. However, Ubisoft hasn’t officially announced any player numbers for the free-to-play title as of yet. There is a roadmap for XDefiant, mentioning that a new faction, maps, and more will come to the game with Season 1.
