Bolder Games has announced its action-platformer Virballs is coming to Steam Early Access on October 22, but you can actually try it out even earlier with a limited-time demo as part of Steam Next Fest. A new Early Access trailer shows the rapid-fire action and cartoon style.

As shown in the trailer, he fiendish Dr. Corvid’s space freighter was stopped by space security, but crashed and scattered its creations all around multiple planets, terrorizing the native Floobers. As an Object Removal Bot (ORB), you have to clean up the mess, which in this case means weaponizing the virballs’ elemental properties to create dozens of combinations of ammo types, and collecting cores to augment your suite of powers.

Now Playing: Virballs – Early Access Trailer

The Early Access trailer shows your ORB absorbing powers, taking out hordes of virballs, and navigating around strange alien planets. Bolder says its aim is to create a platformer reminiscent of the Ratchet & Clank and Kirby series. A final release date hasn’t been announced, but Bolder promises six planets to explore when version 1.0 launches in 2025.

The Early Access period will begin on October 22. A Steam Next Fest demo is available starting today, and will be available through October 21.
