Diablo 4 Halloween Event Features Free Rewards And “Meat Or Treat” Shrines

Diablo 4 is celebrating Halloween with a limited-day event where you can get free cosmetic items just by logging in. During the event players can claim a total of four cosmetic items from the shop, and they can experience a special kind of Shrine thanks to Meat or Treat.

Announced in a blog post, the event runs from October 29 to November 5, with a new free item getting added to the shop each day from October 29 to November 1. On each of those days at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET a new item will be released, including a new mount, mount armor, and two mount trophies that can be claimed. All of these items will be available to be claimed until the end of the event.

Four items will be added to the shop for free over the course of the event, which can be claimed until the event ends on November 5.

In addition to the free cosmetics, there is also a small in-game event called Meat or Treat, which affects Shrines found in dungeons in Diablo 4. While the blog post doesn’t specify exactly what happens, Shrines in Dungeons can have an extra effect, including one that promises “unexpected riches” and another that is heavily implied to involve The Butcher, a tough boss enemy that occasionally spawns in dungeons. Based on the description, it sounds like the bad outcome will spawn The Butcher, which could result in a swift death.

Diabo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, launched earlier this month alongside Season 6. The latest expansion adds a new campaign, area, class, and activities to the loot focused ARPG. To celebrate the launch, Blizzard is letting people send evil flowers to their friends and enemies. For more spooky Halloween events, check out our list of Halloween events for 2024.
