Director Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead films are the epitome of cult classics, and thanks to their mix of high camp, ridiculous gore, and some legitimate scares, but it’s undoubtedly the pitch-perfect performance by star Bruce Campbell as series protagonist Ash Williams that secured the trilogy as celebrated part of horror movie canon. That said, Cambell’s best performance as Williams might be in the 2015 TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead, which continued the story of the chainsaw-handed demon-slayer and his battles against the undead over three seasons. With Halloween fast approaching, it’s a perfect time to nab the series on Blu-ray, and it just so happens you can grab Ash vs. Evil Dead: The Complete Collection for a big discount at Amazon.

The Blu-ray release of Ash vs. Evil Dead includes all three seasons of the show, which originally aired on Starz. It usually retails for $50, but Amazon is currently offering a 47% discount, which cuts the price down to $28. It’s also eligible for free shipping with Amazon Prime.
Ash vs. Evil Dead picks up 30 years after the last movie in the Evil Dead trilogy, Army of Darkness. In that movie, Ash wound up transported back to medieval Europe due to the demonic magic of the Necronomicon, where he fought and eventually defeated the eponymous demonic army. When the show finds him, the years haven’t been especially kind to Ash, who still works as a stock boy just as he did in Army of Darkness. But Williams quickly finds his place as a demon-slayer when the Evil Dead return, this time seeming to threaten the whole world. Teaming up with coworkers Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo), Ash reattaches his chainsaw prosthetic and starts hacking away at possessed monsters.
The Evil Dead series on Blu-ray has a great companion in the recently released RetroRealms Arcade, a double-feature of side-scrolling horror games–one based on Halloween, and the other based on Ash vs. Evil Dead. GameSpot’s Mark Delaney gave RetroRealms Arcade an 8 out of 10 in his review, citing tight controls and solid platforming, as well as an excellent 16-bit graphical presentation.
You can nab the digital versions RetroRealms Arcade and the Ash vs. Evil Dead and Halloween games it contains right now, but there are also some excellent physical versions of the games available for preorder. The physical editions of the games were meant to launch alongside the digital version, but thanks to a slight delay, the $50 Double Feature releases on October 25 and the $80 Special Edition releases on October 31.
