Kamala Harris SNL cameo surprise: What the VP said.

Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, serving as the pep-talking mirror reflection of Maya Rudolph’s Harris character.

The cold open sketch began with a CNN broadcast that mentioned Harris preparing to speak in Pennsylvania before cutting to footage of James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump, hours deep into a rambling speech at a Pennsylvania rally.

“This place reeks,” Trump said in the sketch.

The scene then moves to the backstage at Harris rally as Harris, Jim Gaffigan’s Tim Walz, and Andy Samberg’s Doug Emhoff watch Trump on television.

“Wow, I never thought I’d see Trump do that with a microphone,” Emhoff said in the sketch, likely referencing the very real moment Trump seemingly simulated oral sex on a microphone this weekend.

After then being left alone to prepare for her speech, Rudolph’s Harris sits in front of a vanity mirror and says she wishes she could speak to someone who has been in her shoes.

“You know, a black South Asian woman running for president, preferably from the Bay Area.”

Cue the real Kamala Harris, whose first words as Rudolph’s reflection are drowned out by a roar from the crowd that causes both versions of Harris to break character and laugh.

“I’m just here to remind you that you got this because you can do something your opponent cannot do,” Harris said. “You can open doors.”

Thus begins a pep talk about their “shared belief in the promise of America.”

“What do we always say? Keep calm and carry on-ala.”

They stand together at the end as Rudolph’s Harris promise to “vote for us.”

“Any chance you are registered in Pennsylvania,” the real Harris asks.

“Nope, I am not,” Rudolph replies.

“Well, it was worth a shot,” Harris said.
