Best-sellers

As it does every three months when it releases a quarterly sales report, Nintendo has provided new sales numbers for the best-selling Switch games of all time. They’re all Nintendo games, and there are pretty much no surprises on the list.

At the top of the charts is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has sold an astonishing 64.27 million copies as of September 30, 2024. The figure includes copies sold in hardware bundles, but it’s an impressive number all the same. For comparison, Red Dead Redemption II and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have sold 50 million copies each.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe failed to sell at least 1 million copies during the previous quarter for the first time since 2017, but has rebounded, and shifted more than 1.3 million units over the past three months (from 62.9 to 64.27 million).

The rest of the top five best-selling Switch games include Animal Crossing: New Horizons (46.45 million copies), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (35.14 million copies), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (32.29 million copies), and Super Mario Odyssey (28.50 million copies).

The figures shared in this gallery cover worldwide sales, spanning both physical and digital units.

The Switch, meanwhile, has now sold more than 146 million units, meaning it’s closing in on the PS2’s record.
