Different use case. The PC does NOT work in the way the sony machine does. If you have kids, and use it in a livingroom, the machine does NOT work as plug and play as the sony machine does. Remote play on a PC does NOT work the way the playstation does- Being able to read a review and KNOW it will work on your PC exactly as described does not work on PC the same way. I am a PC engineer- its my job. I am a computer guy through and through. I LOVE gaming on PC- but they are not the same thing and I buy playstations when they come out because frankly 1. the value proposition is incredible and 2. the machine is absolutely just “HERE YOU GO!” Your kids can use it and not be sitting at your PC, its purpose build, the interface is- PC gamers (I am one) spend half the time not even playing but idling the game in the background and fucking around – browsing the web and doing PC stuff- which is what a pc IS FOR. You dont have Games like Gran Turismo or Astrobot on PC and if you did, the polish would not be as high- I am not BASHING THE PC in the least I love the PC. i think PCs are cool, I love customizing my hardware, I love being able to build a SPEC MONSTER and run my OS or even run VMs, or program my own AI model and have 512gb of ram installed to actually push workloads- But when it comes to just logging in… playing games that are optimized, ready to go, in an environment MEANT for gaming, on a machine small enough to throw in a backpack including all its cables and controllers and still have room for a change of clothes…. or just bring your PS portal with you (or vita or whatever in previous gens to remote play)…. the playstation ecosystem is its own thing. Saying you can replace a playstation with a gaming PC is similar to replacing your switch with mobile gaming- there are just things you wont get on the “open” mobile game platforms including knowing YOUR phone plays the game as you heard, knowing your controllers are what the developer intended, having the purpose built stuff there without configuring it and going out of your way. I know its a BOOK I just wrote but it only took me a couple minutes from the comfort of my PC…. But here I am doing this, not playing … when I am on my playstation, I am in VR racing or totally engrossed in an RPG- I know those are not exclusive to playstation – but the GRAB AND GO of it is not on PC even if you can get half way there with a MICRO ITX build and a steam deck.
