Leaked Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 renders reveal more of the same

Summary

  • Leaked Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 renders suggest no major design upgrades.
  • The cover display and inner display may get a slight bump in size.
  • The phone will apparently retain its $1,099 price tag.

Like its smartphones, Samsung’s foldable lineup has also fallen behind the competition, all thanks to the company not making any major upgrades in the last few years. No wonder the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 sales have fallen off a cliff. Recently leaked Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders suggest the company is finally ready to make amends this year, improving its book-style foldable in all the key areas. Renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 have now also popped up on the internet, giving us our first look at a design that we are all familiar with.

It’s getting out-styled by the Razr

The CAD renders shared by Android Headlines and OnLeaks reveal that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will retain the same design as previous Flip phones. The only notable changes are slight size increases for both displays. The outer cover screen will seemingly be bumped to 3.6 inches, a modest 0.2-inch bump from the Z Flip 6. Similarly, the inner display will reportedly expand to 6.8 inches, up from the current model’s 6.7-inch panel.

While a welcome improvement, the Z Flip 7’s larger cover display would still not be big enough to match the Moto Razr+‘s roomy 4-inch outer screen. Supposedly, the inner display will have a less visible crease than Samsung’s current foldable phones.

The Z Flip 7’s bigger screen will slightly increase its dimensions to 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9 mm. For comparison, the Z Flip 6, when unfolded, measures 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm. Based on the leaked renders, it seems Samsung will keep the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s design largely unchanged, reserving the bigger design changes for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 instead.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 could be more of the same

There have been a lot of conflicting rumors about the Z Flip 7’s specs. Samsung may or may not use an Exynos chip inside its flip-style foldable for the first time this year. If not, expect the phone to use a 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.

Irrespective of the chip, the phone will purportedly pack 12GB RAM and ship in 256GB and 512GB storage configurations. The cameras, too, should remain the same, with a 50MP primary shooter and a 12MP ultrawide.

The report suggests that Samsung will maintain the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s price at $1,099. Given the minimal upgrades the phone will seemingly pack, a price hike would have been difficult to justify. Even with a slightly larger display and a faster chip, the $1,099 price tag is hard to digest, especially with competitors offering significantly better devices or similar ones at a lower price point.
