How To Have A Baby In InZoi

One of the more interesting aspects of any life sim for me is always going to be the generational gameplay. While the game worlds of InZoi and The Sims are frozen in time, the families that dwell in them are not. They live, work, have kids, and die, just like we do. It’s a fun and not-so-serious way to reflect on some potentially very heavy subjects. But first things first: you can’t have generational gameplay until you start making some babies. And in InZoi, making babies is slightly less straightforward than it is in real life.

As it is in The Sims, your Zois cannot get pregnant in InZoi simply by having sex. Your Zoi can participate in all the carnal activities they can convince other Zois to do with them, but they’re just not going to get pregnant by accident. To try to get pregnant, your Zois will first have to get married and move in together. It’s obviously no minor task, of course, to attract a life mate, but we can help with that with Inzoi romance guide, which covers flirting, dating, getting married, and, of course, getting naked.

How to have a baby in InZoi

Only female Zois can become pregnant, and there currently aren’t any options for adoption, surrogacy, or any other alternative methods. But it’s likely some or all of that will be added at some later time.

Once you’ve managed to snag your Zoi a spouse, the Romance section of the dialogue box will have a new option to “suggest having a baby,” right above the standard “let’s go to bed, if you know what I mean” option. Selecting this will trigger a sex event if the other Zoi agrees to it. You aren’t guaranteed to get pregnant by choosing this option, but you’ll have no chance if you don’t choose this option.

Taking a pregnancy test in InZoi is almost as exciting as it is in real life.

Once the act itself is completed, you’ll be able to give your Zoi a pregnancy test to see if it worked. If it didn’t, just try again. If it did work, and your Zoi is now pregnant, the waiting game begins. The full term of the pregnancy is three days, and it didn’t seem overly difficult to navigate–my Zoi experienced some erratic mood modifiers, but nothing that actually caused her to behave any differently, so it wasn’t a big deal to go through it. But you can make your pregnant Zois vomit in the toilet when they feel sick.

When the time comes to actually have the baby, there will be a little exclamation point in the corner of your Zoi’s portrait at the bottom of the screen. You click that to give birth, which your Zoi will do right where she stands. After a very brief cutscene that shows your Zoi holding the new baby in a hospital bed, you’ll return to where you were, with the baby in a crib next to you. You’ll be prompted to pick a name, and then you’re set–welcome to virtual parenthood.

We have many more guides to help you in your new life over in our InZoi guides hub.
