Fortnite experienced a hiccup on Tuesday morning, but everything is fine. Players will be back to their Sabrina Carpenter-inspired shenanigans soon.

If you’re in the U.S. and wanted to get some early-morning battle royale rounds in before work on Tuesday, you’re out of luck. Down Detector indicated widespread Fortnite outages starting around 6 a.m. ET and lasting until around 9 a.m. ET at the latest. That’s a pretty long time for one of the most popular video games in the world to be out of commission, and it came at an unusual time of day, so it’s reasonable for players to wonder what’s up.

So, why is Fortnite down?

Luckily, there’s an answer. Developer Epic Games posted on X that there would be some scheduled downtime starting at 6 a.m. ET to push a hotfix (a kind of update that doesn’t require users to download a patch). In other words, the downtime on Tuesday morning was just Epic taking some time to address a problem in the game, which should be fixed by the time you’re reading this. Everything should be fine now.
