Summary

  • Google Slides has introduced new templates for 2025.
  • This is the second wave of new templates introduced, with the first wave debuting in 2024.
  • There is no extra cost to access these new templates, and they can be used starting April 22.

Microsoft productivity apps are going to be pretty much the go-to option for most when it comes to getting projects done. But if you’re not keen on spending money on the brand’s products and services, which can get quite expensive, there are now plenty of great alternatives to choose from.

Google Workspace is so much easier to use

When Google Workspace apps were first introduced, they were pretty barebones, so much so, in fact, that you really couldn’t get a lot done, and couldn’t rely on them for day-to-day use. Fast-forward nearly two decades later and the products have really evolved quite a bit, being a worthy option that will actually have you contemplating switching from Microsoft’s offerings.

Can’t argue with new templates for free

With that said, Google is now dropping a new update for Slides, introducing a new set of templates that can really help jump-start your projects. Now, if you use Slides quite a bit, you may remember that Google introduced new templates back in 2024. This new template set is what the brand is calling a “second wave,” with new designs that will help folks create beautiful projects.

This is great if you’re someone that doesn’t know where to start, or you just need some ideas to start building. The good news is that this is going to be available starting today for those on the Rapid Release schedule, and should roll out to Schedule Release starting on May 6. Admins will not have to do anything for users to see this, and the new templates should just show up since they will be a default option.

And if you’re someone that’s curious and wants to see what these new templates look like, you can always jump into the Insert section and navigate to Templates. From here you can explore all the available templates that Google provides. Just to be clear, these new templates will only be available to those that have their account set to an English (United States) setting.

Of course, in addition to the new templates above, you can always harness the power of Gemini in order to get a little more creative with your presentations. Gemini can help you create new slides and images, and can even help you brainstorm ideas. And when you’re finally ready to present your ideas to the world, you can do in a professional manner thanks to the recently added support for multi-monitors.
