The Transformers franchise has been around for decades now, and while the original 1984 animated series was the gateway into the franchise, many fans still have a strong fondness for the comic books that followed in its wake. If you’ve been looking to revisit the vintage pages of The Transformers or read the iconic series for the first time, you can preorder a pair of colossal comic compendiums at Amazon. The budget-friendly paperbacks are 1,208 pages each, and together they collect the entire 80-issue run.

The Transformers Compendium One releases June 10, and it will be followed by The Transformers Compendium Two on October 21.

$58.49 (was $65) | Releases June 10

The Transformers Compendium One collects issue No. 1 through No. 44 in the classic Marvel comic book series that ran for 80 issues from 1984 to 1991.

The massive 1,208-page paperback was put together by Image Comics, the publisher who currently holds the licensing rights for Transformers comic books. You can preorder The Transformers Compendium One for $58.49 (was $65) at Amazon.

Marvel Comics initially envisioned Transformers as a four-issue miniseries, but when it proved incredibly popular, the comic was turned into an ongoing series instead. Bob Budiansky, who helped name many Transformers characters when the toy brand retooled for its US release, served as a key writer on the comic book series. Budiansky was joined by several other influential writers, including Simon Furman.

The original Transformers comic book series helped flesh out the franchise’s lore and characters, and it remains an influential piece of Transformers media today.

$60.44 (was $65) | Releases October 21

You’ll have a few months to get through the first enormous compendium before the second one arrives on October 21. Available to preorder now for $60.44, Transformers Compendium Two is also 1,208 pages.

The second compendium collects issue No. 45 through No. 80, so you’ll have the entire series if you get both books. To hit the same page count with fewer issues of the original series, Image Comics also included Transformers: The Movie (No. 1-3) and Transformers Generation 2 (No. 1-12).

$46.49 (was $50) | Releases May 13

The Transformers Compendiums aren’t the only exciting upcoming releases from Image Comics. An eye-catching Deluxe Edition hardcover of the modern Transformers comic book series arrives on May 13. You can buy Transformers Deluxe Edition Book 1 for $46.49 (was $50) at Amazon.

Written by Daniel Warren Johnson and illustrated by Jorge Corona and Mike Spicer, this modern series has been a huge hit with fans and critics. The new 296-page Deluxe Edition collects the first 12 issues (two story arcs) in hardcover format.

Like previous Transformers adaptations, this series tells the story of the war between the Autobots and Decepticons continuing on Earth, reimagining the original G1 continuity to create surprising and shocking moments. The series won a prestigious Eisner award for its art and writing last year.

These collect six issues each, and you can get Transformers Volume 1 for $15.80 (was $17) and Transformers Volume 2 for $15.29 (was $17). Transformers Volume 3 is out on May 27, and you might want to consider picking this one up if you like the deluxe edition, as it contains #13-18 and the Energon Universe 2024 Special.

Transformers fans should also check out the awesome 2-in-1 Optimus Prime Lego set that was recently restocked at major retailers and discounted by 20%. The completed build can be converted between robot and truck modes in a matter of seconds.
