Rumors around the Galaxy Watch 8 have started to surface, including leaks about the Watch 8 Classic design and its charging speed. And now, we’re hearing more about its hardware. However, don’t get your hopes up too high.

According to Android Authority, Samsung may use the same processor in the Galaxy Watch 8 as in the current Galaxy Watch 7 — the Exynos W1000. A code string discovered by the publication shows the Galaxy Watch 8 models carry the same SoC part number (SC55535AHA) as the Galaxy Watch 7, confirming it’s the same chipset.

Most users won’t even notice
While this isn’t necessarily bad news — the Exynos W1000 is a solid performer — those expecting a major performance upgrade might be a bit disappointed. To be fair, the Exynos W1000 marked a huge leap last year, shifting from a dual-core to a five-core CPU, delivering 3.4x better performance than the previous generation chipset and also offering improved efficiency thanks to the 3nm process.
In addition to reusing the same chipset, the report also shares new software features arriving with One UI 8 Watch. New tiles like Calculator, Voice Recorder, and a Galaxy Buds controller are expected. Samsung may also let users quickly launch the Recorder app via the side Quick Button, which could come in handy when your phone isn’t nearby.

All signs suggest Samsung is focusing less on hardware upgrades this year and more on refining the smartwatch’s design and software. The leaked Galaxy Watch 8 Classic shows a refreshed look, and One UI 8 Watch is expected to feature the Material 3 Expressive design language.
There’s still no official launch date, but with Unpacked rumored for early July, we likely won’t have to wait much longer.
