As we approach the rumored release timeline of the Google Pixel 10, leaks surrounding the device have started pouring in from multiple sources. This week alone, the Pixel 10’s new ringtone and system sounds leaked, we got our first real look at the Pro model, and a report shed light on the lineup’s availability. Now, a new leak reveals that Google has some big upgrades planned for the Pixel 10’s video stabilization.

Pixel 10 could debut on this day

When Google launched the Pixel 2 in 2017, it impressed everyone with its “Fused Video Stabilization” technology, enabling the phone to capture super-smooth, almost jitter-free footage. But over the years, Google made little improvements, allowing the competition to catch up. The Pixel 9 series offers impressive video stabilization, but iPhones still have the upper hand in eliminating unwanted shakes.

It appears that Google will again make significant strides in video stabilization with this year’s Pixel 10. Android Headlines claims that Google’s upcoming Pixel phones will feature an upgraded image stabilization system that could deliver almost gimbal-like smoothness. “Think of using a Pixel 10 on a DJI Osmo Mobile 6, but without that gimbal,” says the report.

Google could market this feature as an Action mode similar to the one found on the iPhone and other flagship Android phones. In this mode, the phone fuses the footage from the primary and ultrawide sensors to record videos with gimbal-like stabilization.

This improvement will come despite the 2025 Pixel lineup seemingly sticking to the same camera hardware as its predecessor and not packing any meaningful upgrades. Yet, the superior video stabilization will purportedly be available across the entire Pixel 10 family, including the base model and the Fold.

Will Pixel 10’s video quality also get a boost?

What’s still uncertain is whether the enhanced stabilization will result in better video quality. It should lead to less jittery and smoother footage, but that does not mean video quality will also improve. While Video Boost enables Pixel phones to capture some amazing video footage, especially in low-light scenarios, it offloads the processing to the cloud to achieve this.

With the Pixel 10 supposedly launching in mid-August, there’s a lot of time for more details about the phones to leak. So, we should get to know more about the enhanced stabilization on Google’s upcoming Pixels in the coming weeks.
