One of the many great things about a Nintendo Switch 2 is the ability to have multiple profiles on a single system, which allows family or friends to enjoy using the console, whether separately or at the same time. However, you’ll need to add a user to your console before they can join in the fun. And once you no longer want that profile on your Switch 2, you’ll need to manually remove it, too. With that in mind, here’s how to add and remove users on Switch 2.

How to add a user on Switch 2

To add a new user on your Switch 2, follow the instructions below.

  1. Select the Settings icon on your Switch 2 home screen.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Select Add User.
Sign in to a Nintendo Account or create a local user.

Here, you’ll need to decide whether you’d like to sign into a Nintendo Account or simply add a local account. Regardless of your decision, follow the remaining instructions to get set up, including choosing a cool new avatar, nickname, and more.

How to remove a user on Switch 2

To remove a user from your Switch 2, follow the instructions below.

  1. Select the Settings icon on your Switch 2 home screen.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Click the icon of the user you wish to remove.
  4. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select Delete User.
If you're ready to delete the user, go ahead and make it so.
If you’re ready to delete the user, go ahead and make it so.

You’ll now be greeted with a page that informs you that all of this user’s save data stored in system memory will be delete and that their Nintendo Account will be unlinked. Any software purchased on the account will also be inaccessible on the current system, so you won’t be able to play this user’s games on any other profiles once they’re removed.

If all of that is okay with you, go ahead and choose Delete, then click Next to wrap things up.
